September 17 2026 – Stan, Screen Australia and Screen NSW today announced that filming has commenced in Sydney for the Stan Original Stuck Up & Stupid, based on Angourie Rice and Kate Rice’s novel of the same name. The eight-episode Stan Original is a witty, romantic reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice set against the sun-soaked Australian coast and the glittering world of Hollywood.
Angourie Rice (Mean Girls) leads the incredible cast, alongside Brendon Tremblay (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Raff Law (Kill Jackie, Masters of the Air), Antonia Eaton (Ms. X), Oliver Edis (Stan Original Gnomes), Ed Oxenbould (Stan Original Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story), lolanthe (Black Mirror), Brooke Satchwell (Stan Original Dear Life), Julia Morris (I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here), Luke Carroll (Stan Original Scrublands: Silver), Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Neighbours), Hannah Gadsby, Erika Heynatz, Sophie Monk, Christian Wilkins and Rob Mills.
The eight-episode Stan Original Stuck Up & Stupid is a witty, romantic reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice set against the sun-soaked Australian coast and the glittering world of Hollywood. The series is adapted by Gretel Vella (The Great, He Had it Coming) from the novel Stuck Up & Stupid; set-up director is Jocelyn Moorhouse (The Dressmaker, Boy Swallows Universe).
When a group of Hollywood stars arrives at the secluded Pippi Beach for the summer, local Lily Bennet quickly finds herself clashing with the superficial and arrogant movie star Dorian Khan. But as circumstance and undeniable chemistry continue to throw them together, Lily discovers that she and Dorian may have more in common than first thought.
A multi-generational story about family, friendship, romance and fame, Stuck Up & Stupid, based on Angourie Rice and Kate Rice’s best-selling book, brings Austen’s classic into a contemporary world where first impressions are rarely correct. Created and written by Gretel Vella (Stan Original Totally Completely Fine), executive producers are Kylie du Fresne (Stan Original Black Snow), Rosemary Blight (Black Snow), Gretel Vella, Lauren Kisilevsky, Yvonne Strahovski, Lindsey Martin and Dave Clarke for CBS Studios International, as well as Andy Ryan and Donna Chang from the 9Network and Stan. Alongside Kylie du Fresne, Angourie Rice and Kate Rice also produce. Jocelyn Moorhouse is set-up director and Helena Brooks (Stan Originals Black Snow and Population 11) will also direct.
