Experts: Stephanie Rice, Ash Barty, Craig Foster, Heath Thorpe, Nick Green and Geoff Ogilvy with Louise Bawden and Sam Willoughby in Paris.

Highlights & expert opinions from today's shows:

Ash Barty on her good friend Jess Fox's Gold medal performance in the Women's C1 Canoe Slalom, to become the most successful Canoe Slalom athlete in Olympic history and Australia's most successful individual Olympic medallist.

"Incredible. To be able to go back-to-back in this Olympic Games. You know how much pressure she was putting on herself to perform to bring out the best in herself and we’ve seen that over the last couple of weeks. It’s been a lot of fun to watch. Her smile is infectious. You can't help but smile with her. She brings out the best in everyone."

Stephanie Rice on a mixed morning in the pool for Australia with international athletes storming through to grab the podium spots in record breaking swims:

"It was the first World Record (WR) of the whole Olympics. To see someone come through and do a WR when no one else has been on WR pace shows Pan’s dominance. One of the things that I think really affected Kyle was, Pan [Zhanle] goes out so fast in the first 50m and really just held on and you can see Kyle is right next to Pan and at the first turn it’s almost like he’s in the wake of the wash and I wonder if he felt that. I wonder if he felt the turbulence in the water, not a great position for him to be in at that point in the race. He has such a strong last 50m you can see him catching up and really try to fight back to finish second. Pan is an entire class above. I don’t know if I have seen a 100m Freestyle be won in such a huge gap. Almost one second ahead of everyone else in the field."

"She [Sarah Sjoestroem, SWE] entered the [100m Free] race at the last minute. She went out right next to the US swimmer who is so fast over 50m, so I think it helped bring her out quickly. She had such a dominant race the whole way through. Her second 50 looked incredibly strong. We all had our hope and faith on Mollie O’Callaghan coming through for a Gold. She did do an awesome race, she got touched out by 0.01 of a second for the Bronze which is the be the most soul crushing position for a swimmer. You’ve missed the podium; you have nothing to show for it."

"Leon Marchand (FRAN) is dominating in everything he has swum. It is just incredible. 200m Butterfly was his first event tonight and the 200m Breaststroke. Not many Olympians can do a double up on the same day, it takes so much out of your system let alone two 200m races, one of them being the 200m Fly which is probably one of the most exhausting to swim. You can just see the endurance in Leon Marchand, he has such stamina. He does train with Bob Bowman, the same coach as Michael Phelps and they obviously have a strategy for this scenario. That third turn, it is so hard to hold your breath at the third turn and go the full 15m underwater and he did that and that’s where he got in front of the Hungarian World Record holder [in the 200m Fly]."

"It was a real upset for Australia in the pool this morning but the people who took the podium off us are a class above and you have to have praise for them as well."

Stephanie Rice on American Katie Ledecky who became the first female swimmer to win Gold Medals at four different Olympics after retaining her title in the women’s 1500m freestyle.

"She is the GOAT of women’s distance swimming. She has eight Gold medals in Olympic swimming and seven of those are individual. If the 1500m had been in the Olympics when she started swimming, she could arguably have more. The training that goes into distance swimming is like no other. She’d be clocking up to 15 – 20kms a day in the pool. To do that over four Olympics already, it’s insane."

Stephanie Rice looks ahead to the fan favourite "splash and dash" Men's 50m Freestyle with World Champion Cameron McEvoy eyeing Olympic Gold.

"It's so impressive to be the world number one ranked [50 freestyler] coming into an Olympics when you’re the oldest swimmer on the team and you’ve been doing it for so long. Usually it’s the other way around. Cam did come into camp later. When you’re away on camp for a long time and then come into the Olympic Village there is so much emotional energy used in that environment."

Stephanie Rice previews the 4 x 200m Women's Freestyle Relay and talks through her Australian team predictions.

"What’s so great about the relay swimming, especially the women’s is the depth that we have in the 200m freestyle. We will hopefully have four fresh swimmers do the heat and have four fresh swimmers in the final. Allowing some of the top girls like Mollie and Ariarne to take a bit of a rest, not having to do that heat and just using them in the final but I am so curious to see the final two girls. You have Lani Pallister who had Covid and pulled out of the 1500m, you’ve got Shayna Jack who just did the 100m free, she could come in for the 200m and you also have someone like Kaylee McKeown who has posted incredibly fast 200m freestyle times. She didn’t do it at Trials to focus on the 100m Back, but they would still consider her given she is on form."

"The relay coaches have discussions - who is the best person in that moment in time not always who did well at the Trials three – four weeks ago. After the heat swim they will have the huge decision around who they will use for the final. Unless you’re a Mollie or Ariarne and you’re guaranteed, everyone else has to fight it out for a spot. I think this is why they do the Olympic Trials so much closer to the Games than they used to, so your form is more relative to what it will be at the Olympics. I definitely think they will be considering someone like Kaylee McKeown, she’d be an outside chance but she’s clearly swimming so well… she is someone that you know if you put her in she is going to swim well and that’s what you’re looking for. "

Craig Foster discusses the future of women's football in Australia after the Matildas disappointing run at Paris 2024 seeing them fall before the knock out stages:
(Clip here)

"They are such great ambassadors not just for Australia but for women’s sport. What they did last year in the World Cup was extraordinary and we were desperate for them to go one better here. It wasn’t a great tournament for them. All through the first game Germany were better than us by a considerable margin and then against Zambia it was a crazy, crazy game but an amazing comeback and they showed what they’re capable of. This morning against a very strong USA we were second best, no doubt about it. If you go back to Tokyo they have finished fourth in the last two major tournaments so this will be painful for the players."

"The question is what is going to happen now, to put the Matildas and the game in a position where they are going to be capable of taking on the best in the world. In the last five years there’s been a huge investment in women’s football around the world and we have is this extraordinary generation who all started very young and so have an immense amount of experience and they’re all now playing for the first time in the world’s top clubs and they are capable of competing at that level but the challenge we’re having is that the football of the other countries is evolving and our football hasn’t evolved much in the last three years.”

12-time PGA winner Geoff Ogilvy sets the scene for the upcoming men's golf tournament commencing at 5pm AEST today:

"It’s the third time we’ve had golf at the Olympics and its starting to be a big thing for the golfers."

"Min Woo [Lee] and Jason [Day] - Min Woo is our next big hope to win the Olympic Tournament. He’s pretty exciting, fun to watch, an excitement machine. He won the Australian PGA last year, and I know he’s really excited for this. He loves representing Australia. Jason was number one around Rio 2016 and chose not to play and said he did regret it, but no one really knew what golf at the Olympics was going to be like."

"Both Min Woo and Jason have every chance. They will have to play well; the field is very good."

Ash Barty on Spain's Carlos Alcaraz has he continues his run through to the Men's Singles Quarter-Finals after a comfortable win over Roman Safiullin.
(Clip here)

"He has got this incredible charisma, Carlos. He always looks like he is a six-year-old kid out on court having fun. Win or lose points, he always smiles, he’s up at his team, he’s really emotional with his team. He gives the crowd a lot but I know he’s obviously been on this emotional run as well, playing in his first Olympics at Roland Garros where he’s just had so much success. He’s been playing with Rafael Nadal and now that they’re no longer in the tournament he’s able to shift his focus completely to singles and just go out there on the singles court and do what he does best."
