Following the success of A Sunburnt Christmas, Christmas on the Farm and Christmas Ransom, the Stan Original Film Jones Family Christmas continues Stan’s tradition as the home of Australian Original Christmas features. With Ella Scott Lynch, Max McKenna, Neil Melville and Nicholas Denton joining Heather Mitchell, the warm-hearted Stan Original Film Jones Family Christmas will premiere November 23, only on Stan.

November 2, 2023 – Stan, Australia’s unrivalled home of original productions, today announced that Christmas will come early this year with the Stan Original Film Jones Family Christmas to premiere November 23, only on Stan. In the festive trailer released today, acclaimed Australian actress Heather Mitchell (Love Me) stars alongside Ella Scott Lynch (Love Child), Max McKenna (While The Men Are Away), Neil Melville (Brilliant Lies) and Nicholas Denton (Dangerous Liaisons) in the multi-generational comedy told through the lens of an Australian family whose holiday gathering is cut short by bushfires.

Eccentric grandmother Heather Jones (Heather Mitchell) has finally managed to get her family under her roof for Christmas. But all is not merry and bright in this rural home. From heartbreak and depression, to meddling mothers and forced frivolity – every member of Heather’s extended clan is fighting an internal battle. And outside things aren’t much better. Before Heather has a chance to interrogate her kids, the family receives a fire evacuation order. Suddenly, the Joneses are on the run. As the mercury rises and danger closes in, Heather and her family must band together as they rediscover what matters most – each other.

The ensemble cast also includes Dushan Philips (Stan Original Series The Gloaming), Tahlee Fereday (Fisk), Jimmy Rees (Giggle and Hoot), Genevieve Morris (Stan Original Series No Activity), Marg Downey (The Newsreader), Tegan Higginbotham (Oddball), Michael Logo (Colin From Accounts), Akhilesh Jain (Deendayal Ek Yug Purush), Fiona Choi (The Family Law), Bev Killick (Savage River) and Australian comedian Tanya Hennessy.

Jones Family Christmas is inspired by true events and the life of Tegan Higginbotham, and is directed by Stef Smith (It’s Fine, I’m Fine), written by Tegan Higginbotham (This Is Littleton) and produced by Richard Kelly and John Molloy at 2 Jons Productions (The Stan Original Series The Gloaming), in association with VicScreen.
