22 August 2025 - The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off this Saturday, set to be the biggest and most anticipated tournament in the competition’s history. Featuring the world’s top teams and athletes, the showpiece event promises unforgettable moments as women’s rugby takes centre stage like never before.
Fans can watch all the action live and on demand on Stan Sport, with every Wallaroos game, and the Final simulcast live on the 9Network and streaming on 9Now.
Hosted in England, RWC 2025 is a five-week festival of rugby featuring 16 teams competing across 32 matches. More than 375,000 tickets have already been sold, triple the previous record.
The tournament kicks off with a blockbuster showdown between host nation England taking on the USA at 4:20am AEST on Saturday 23 August. A record opening-match crowd of more than 40,000 fans is expected at the Stadium of Light. All eyes will be on USA sensation Ilona Maher, starting at outside centre, who has built a global following of more than 9 million fans on social media.
Following this, the Wallaroos begin their campaign on Saturday night at 8:30pm AEST against Samoa, live on Stan Sport and 9Gem. Head coach Jo Yapp has named a squad featuring 13 players with previous World Cup experience, while fullback Caitlyn Halse is set to make history as the youngest Australian to ever play at a Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Sevens gold medallist Alicia Lucas will lead the coverage, joined by Nat Yoannidis and former Wallaroo Kiri Barker, with Lauren Jenkins reporting from the sidelines in England with Andrew Swain providing commentary.
The stage is set for a record-breaking RWC Final at Twickenham on Sunday 28 September, with more than 82,000 fans already locked in for the biggest crowd ever in women’s rugby.
Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 compliments a blockbuster month of action on Stan Sport which also features The Rugby Championship, Premier League and US Open tennis.
